Why Choose Green Acres?

“For over fifteen years we have provided the highest quality service to Front Range home owners, often being called in to fix the mistakes of others. Through all of this I’ve learned to never compromise quality to win a bid.

When maintenance and replacement costs are also considered, we’re usually the economic choice.

Ask the hard questions and, before you choose a landscaper, make sure you’re comparing apples to apples.

Whatever your decision, we wish you the greatest enjoyment of your new landscape!”

Distinctive Masonry and Concrete

Our permanent staff of skilled masons provide the best stonework in Colorado.

Our Colorado buff flagstone (obtained from Masonville, CO) provides a richer and more interesting surface compared to less expensive Arizona buff. Our Colorado red flagstone comes exclusively from Lyons, Colorado.

Each dry-stack wall stone is cut, chiseled and ground to a perfect fit. Each stone exterior is hand faced.
Mortared flagstone walls include a footer to protect against freeze-thaw cycles and ground movement.
Cut stone paths and patios are precisely fitted to minimize use of cheaper crusher fines as fill.

Mortared patio flagstone is set on a full 4” steel reinforced concrete slab.
Beautiful stamped concrete patios are crafted by the
finest concrete artisans and construction methods in the Front Range.

Structural
Craftsmanship

We construct fencing, porticoes, pergolas, decks, outdoor kitchens and other structures that are fully integrated with your landscape design and meet your HOA requirements.

Our design team will work with you to create the outdoor living area of your dreams!

User Friendly
Irrigation Systems

No winter blowout required!
Long lasting Hunter HPV valves (best on the market)
Drippers are inserted into ¾” poly pipe at plant base – no unreliable spaghetti tubing!
Netafim tubing, rather than micro jets, is used on annual beds and groundcovers to avoid effects of wind on water distribution
Multi-program clock is user friendly and goof-proof!

Ask about in-line fertilization systems that can automatically feed both lawns and plants – and control rabbit and deer damage!

Edging you can live with!

Cheap edging can be an unsightly nightmare:

  • Thin steel edging set too high
  • Distracting, often rusty, ring around the lawn area
  • Grass can spread into mulch areas due to roots (rhizomes) growing under edging
  • Exposed edge can injure animals and bare feet

Green Acres keeps the lawn in its place!

Heavy, 14 gauge steel rolled-top edging driven to adequate depth
Soil excavated back from edging
Grass cannot travel to mulch area
No sharp surfaces

We take the effort to do it right!

Soil Preparation

We use a rich, loamy “amended topsoil” consisting of 70% topsoil and 30% BioComp® compost.

BioComp® utilizes a combination of several feedstocks, including brewing products from Coor’s Brewery. And meets EPA 40 CFR 503-13 requirements for unrestricted use and distribution.

This combination provides correct soil ph (acidity), drainage and long term plant and lawn health.
Common “high-cow” mixtures will shrink with time, leaving lawn edging too high and unsightly and also allowing grass to invade planting beds.
We can provide field soil testing, or thorough laboratory testing through the CSU extension services to determine special amendment needs.

Mulch

Our redwood “gorilla hair” mulch has proven to be the best choice for the Front Range climate and soils:
Stays put – even in high winds
Maintains appearance – does not fade as quickly as cheaper mulches
Best for long term soil conditioning – provides better air circulation and increases soil acidity as it gradually decomposes

Sod

We provide a special “4 seed” blend of Quantum Leap, Award, Midnight and Limousine cultivars. These provide the optimal combination of color, growth rate, and wearability for Front Range residential use.

Plant Selection and Horticulture

Our plant experts shop nurseries for the best price and grade of plants, shrubs and trees. You are welcome to accompany us to pick out your individual shrubs and trees.

We follow Colorado State University and Denver Botanic Gardens recommendations -including planting trees above soil line, with wells and root stimulator solution.

…the not-so-little extras!

We mix 12”, 3”-6”, 4”-8” and 1.5” stones to obtain an authentic stream bed look
All boulders are dug-in for both safety and appearance
Downspouts are solidly connected to heavy PVC and drained beyond your hardscape (but never into the neighbor’s yard!)
Following completion of your landscape, we provide an “owner’s manual”
Our horticulture experts are always available to answer questions
